Massimiliano Allegri reveals Milan “defend well to attack better” for their five wins on the bounce.

The Rossoneri had a bad start to the season, but their 4-0 against Catania was the fifth consecutive victory.

“Today the team had a good performance and only allowed Catania something in the first half,” said the Coach.

“The lads did well in terms of technique and also the intensity of the match, which was not easy in this game.

“When the strikers work to help out the defence like this, the whole team can express itself better. The forwards have been doing this for a while now, helping the midfield when we lose possession.

“If we defend well, then in my view we attack better. That’s how we approached the last few matches and we got some great performances.

“We really wanted these five straight wins and now have a good position in the table so we can go into the break for international duty with a more relaxed state of mind.”

The results were achieved during an injury crisis and Allegri believes Milan have more to give.

“Now we’ve got to recharge our batteries, as we’ll have eight games in quick succession when we come back and need to get as many wins as possible.

“Fortunately we should also bring back some players, so those who have been keeping the team going can also have a bit of a rest.”
