Genoa–Inter was already called off this morning, as floods in the centre of Genoa left six people dead and caused huge damage.
“As is only right, the authorities made this decision for the greater good and for public safety,” said Juventus director general Beppe Marotta.
“We are disappointed, because we’d prepared for this match very carefully and were in excellent shape. Napoli took part in the meeting with the authorities and provided more details for the overall analysis of the situation.”
Some would say the postponement suits Napoli, who were tired from Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
“We agree with the decision to call off the game, because this could’ve become a very risky situation with more than 60,000 people flocking to the stadium,” said director of sport Riccardo Bigon.
“The state of the pitch was also at risk from flooding, so bringing all those fans to the arena we could’ve ended up having to stop play anyway.
