Max Allegri urges Juventus to ‘press the reset button, get our ideas back in order and set our sights on an objective’ after another disappointing result against Verona.

Michael Folorunsho had opened the scoring with a sensational volley from outside the area, cancelled out by the Dusan Vlahovic penalty.

Tijjani Noslin restored Verona’s lead only for Adrien Rabiot to equalise moments later, but Lorenzo Montipò only made one real save in stoppages on Federico Chiesa.

“You can even lose a game like this, despite the three or four late chances we had. We need to reorganise our ideas, set our sights on an objective and stop conceding goals so easily,” Allegri told DAZN.

“Even against Udinese we had five or six chances and did not convert. It can happen, but what we absolutely must not get wrong is the attitude that allowed us to bring home wins in the first four months, that we are not showing now.

“Football is a sport where it takes a long time to build and it can all be knocked down in an instant. So we need to get our ideas back in order.”

This is certainly not the result that the Old Lady was looking for, as although they showed grit to twice fight back from a goal down at the Bentegodi, they have picked up just two points from the last four rounds, which were against Empoli, Inter, Udinese and Verona.

In the same period, Inter amassed 12 points and are now nine points clear at the top with a game in hand.

Allegri had said in yesterday’s press conference that he was not prepared to change his 3-5-2 formation after only a couple of bad results, but the team looked much better once he switched to a 4-3-3 this evening.

“The change of system still gave us the sensation Verona were counter-attacking and we did not block them off early enough. We made a lot of technical errors with the passing in the first half.

“I am more angry about the circumstances that until now were not there. With this game, we must shake off the disappointment that we felt in the games against Empoli, Inter and Udinese.”

It seems as if that draw with Empoli when down to 10 men was even more damaging for their confidence than the head-to-head with Inter, as the Scudetto dream bubble burst.

“While things were going well, we felt good, but football has imponderable moments and the draw with Empoli was one of them. We must not assume that we are already in the Champions League, so until that is mathematically secured, we have to keep working hard.

“Lately we get the feeling the opposition can score every time they come forward and that is not right.

“It’s not about the system, you need to run hard and work as a team in football, but right now we are too stretched out and make it easier for the opposition.”

Rather than the Scudetto, Juventus must look over their shoulder, as Milan could leapfrog them into second with a win against Monza tomorrow.

“We had two points in four games, so we must press the reset button. There is a Coppa Italia semi-final to be played, so we need to reboot, because it’s not easy to just flip a switch and get right back on form.

“The team is working hard, it is putting in the performance, but at this moment it is not enough to get the victory.”
