Massimiliano Allegri insists the January transfer window won’t solve Juventus problems and reveals Kaio Jorge could start against Bologna tomorrow.

The Bianconeri sit seventh in the Serie A table, eight points behind a Champions League spot.

Tomorrow, they face 10th placed Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

“It’s a difficult game. They’ve only conceded once from set-pieces and have scored many goals in the second half, which means they are fit,” Allegri said at a press conference.

“We have worked well this week, Dybala is not available, Chiesa is working well, same as Danilo, but they won’t be available for the next two games, Chiellini is unlikely to travel with the team due to his usual slight problems.

“Kulusevski is not fit to play 90 minutes. Due to the surgery he underwent, he could not eat solid food for a week, so he’s lost a bit of weight. However, he will be on the bench.”

Earlier last week, the Swede underwent surgery to resolve the acute sinusitis of odontogenic origin.

“Ramsey hasn’t recovered. He has a flexor problem, so he is still out of action,” Allegri added.

“Dybala’s exams were negative, but don’t forget that he was replaced against Malmo and that we tried him against Venezia and the same thing happened,” the coach clarified.

“We don’t want to take any risk, he hasn’t trained with the team, so we’ll see if he is available for the next game against Cagliari.

“It’s hard to play in Bologna, especially after two defeats, we need a technical game to take the victory home,” Allegri continued.

“We need to work, I am happy about my choice [of returning to the club]. It takes time because we have a young team with players who are not accustomed to winning.

“I am sorry because we don’t have as many points as we’d deserve. Although we respect them, we can’t get two points out of 15 against clubs like Verona, Udinese, Sassuolo, Empoli, and Venezia.

“We need to improve the way we read games, we’ve had highs and lows in terms of attention and focus after good performances against big teams. That’s where we need to improve, but it takes time.

“I have Rabiot, McKennie, Locatelli Arthur and Bentancur available in midfield, I need to decide if Kean or Kaio Jorge will play in attack with Morata,” the coach continued.

“Alex Sandro has played many games, I need to decide tomorrow, he hasn’t always trained with the team this week, so tomorrow I will decide who between him and Pellegrini will play.”

Juventus have been linked with many strikers in the January transfer window, but Allegri believes the Bianconeri must solve their problems on the pitch.

“It makes no sense to talk about transfers. Let’s see what happens in the next two games, we talk every day, but the January transfer window won’t solve our problems,” the coach said.

“We need to work on the players that we have, the team is great. We need to improve and be more clinical, everyone, not just the strikers.

“Now, we need to focus on the next two games, I haven’t thought about how many points we’d need for the Champions League but at the beginning of the new year, we’ll face Napoli and Roma, so we need to be ready.

“January and February are crucial months, so let’s focus on the next game with Bologna and then Cagliari. Then we’ll see in the new year. Maybe with the new year, everything will change.”

  1. I agree with Allegri but only because we have the Sherlock Holmes of coaches, just one that cannot find the clues.

  2. The team needs better players and a better attitude and better team chemistry.
The transfers ALONE wont help the team, but if new players can be the spark then hopefully the team can improve a lot. A striker that scores goals and MF that protects the defense will certainly help and could make all the other players feel stronger and more confident.
Final point> stop bashing the coach! Two CL finals for Alegri, and loads of titles. He already won the CL group ahead of Chelsea. Who do you idiots want? Pep Guardiola and free flowing attacking football with Rabiot, Morata, Arthur and our injured wingers?????

  3. ALLEGRI: ‘JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW WON’T SOLVE JUVENTUS’ PROBLEMS’

You’re correct. Because you’ll still around.

  4. Allegri give Fagioli and Rovella a change over Arthur, Rabiot and also Bentancur.
He is a really stubborn coach and doesn’t know how to treat or help youngsters especially homegrown or Italian talents.
The way he handles Rugani is truly shamefull. such a talented players living always on the bence instead of rotating and give the young man more confident.
just look at De Ligt how many mistake he makes or Bonucci

  5. The January mercato will expose the problems further so that Juve will be ready for the Summer mercato!

  6. Chris
Allegri only got to 2 CL finals and got smashed in both of them and won titles without any seria A competition

Even Steve Bruce managing Juve in that era would achieved that,
and probably would have bettered it by winning the CL,

  7. Allegri is playing a prehistoric system that suits no one with the exception of Dybala. Yes the squad isn’t great however we should still be top four and it’s all on the manager when you look at our attacking statistics! Guardiola improves players, Allegri doesn’t make anyone better!

  8. Stop throwing youth under the bus Allegri. Your in this situation because half your team is always injured not because of new/young players. Your a dinosaur. You cant or don’t know how to integrate new/young players into the team to cover the injured and seem to be clueless on how to implement any game plan other then keeping 10 players in their own half for most of the game.

  9. If you can’t see that it’s the player material that is lacking and not the managers fault don’t know anything about football.
Allegri needs 4-5 players to change this team.
And please: noboby reaches 2 CL finals and win 5 scudettos without skills!

  10. Just take a look at Chiesa. His form has drop drastically onder Allegri, aswell locatelli. And the national team is suffering from this

  11. People are forgetting that Allegri did have a great midfield during his first three years at Juventus and they did not play exciting football or scored goals at a canter. The only time that goals were flowing is when Conte was at the helm. Remember when they defeated La Viola 5-0 away from home as well as being 3-0 up at half time against Roma. Gone are those days and I will never think of Conte the same so no licking here. Give Allegri better players and he will still stick to his guns. You cannot teach this old dog new tricks.

  12. I don’t even know anymore what is the Juventus problem, the coach? The managers and their decisions? The players? It is so confusing, it could be all of the above.

  13. Thank You Mr Allegri for stating the obvious and by pointing out the fact that new signings will not change anything, gives you another excuse for the team playing bad.
All the squad is under performing and it is the managers job to change this trend,
so i suggest you get your finger out and start doing your duty.

  14. @Italyboy – The damage had already been done way before Allegri took over. You can not expect him to overturn three yaers of mis management in a few months..get real!!!

  15. ALLEGRI OUT”””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””ALLEGRI OUT

    GOOD FOR ITALIAN FOOTBALL

    GOOD FOR JUVENTUS

  16. Some Coaches win the scudetto and finish last in Champions League to do it not to mention leaving early from the Coppa Italia….some coaches go 1 game from Treble not once but twice ……. there’s a MASSIVE gap in between

  17. Some teams can also find the back of the net as well. 23 goals, I believe a certain team has more than double that pitiful Super League status tally.

Some coaches also evolve, take experiences abroad and adapt their methods. PHD Allegri is being schooled by young Inzaghi and in the first season.

  18. Allegri seems to be highlight of the conversation, but I do not believe he is the root of the problem. I see Ronaldo and Covid as the issue. Ronaldo is a winner, but the morale of the team has been in decline since he joined and now that he is gone there isn’t something/someone to inspire the team to greatness. They have a good squad, but the players don’t look motivated. Things werent great before the covid break, but after and up until this point in time there seems to be a lack of focus and ingenuity.

Granted Allegri can be stubborn with his player choices and tactics, but he knows how to manage a winning team. The team/coach needs to find a fresh perspective to reignite their interest in winning because you can see when they step out onto the pitch they are missing just that.

  19. I think the pattern here is pretty complete. Whatever team Conte has coached at least in Serie A, it became a winning team. Conte 1st at Juve and then at Inter. And its no surprise that both Allegri and Inzaghi just needed to carry on the work of the real architect of these teams. No disrespect to Inzaghi because he seems to be at least maintaining a positive style of football compared to Allegri’s years of anti-football at Juve. But the credit is not due really to these two, its the coach before them.

  20. The whole team is bad but the midfield is particularly atrocious. Betancur and Rabiot specifically, if these two are on the field at the same time we lose. Simple as that.
