Max Allegri insists starting Federico Chiesa does not mean Juventus will ‘defend and counter’ against Napoli this evening.

It kicks off at 19.45 GMT at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Bianconeri have won their last eight consecutive Serie A matches without conceding a single goal and tonight visit the most prolific side in the division.

“The sensations are good, but we know this is a top of the table match – despite the seven-point Napoli advantage. They play well, score a lot of goals and do not concede many, so we hope for a great game,” Allegri told DAZN.

Juventus have surprised by choosing Chiesa for his first start since that anterior cruciate ligament tear in January 2022.

“It’s not about defend and counter. When we have the ball, we need to use it well, as Napoli are well-organised defensively,” insisted the coach.

“When we don’t have to ball, we must be wary, keep a close eye on the details for over 90 minutes, because the games in Naples aren’t over until they’re over.”

The Partenopei have lost only one Serie A match this season, 1-0 to Inter at San Siro on January 4, and are already Winter Champions with two rounds to spare.

They also won 14 and drew just two league encounters this term, scoring 39 goals and conceding 13.
