Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly concerned about the fact that only Paul Pogba seems to be joining Juventus, despite the number of key departures like Paulo Dybala and Giorgio Chiellini.

The Bianconeri know that a squad overhaul is needed this summer to try and close the gap with current frontrunners Milan and Inter. The momentum has shifted to Lombardy in recent years and a top transfer window is needed if the Old Lady want to challenge for the Scudetto again next season.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Allegri is anxious as the pre-season training camp is approaching rapidly and only Pogba seems to be joining the club for the time being. He’s expecting a number of reinforcements considering the departures of Dybala, Chiellini, Federico Bernardeschi and now Alvaro Morata.

The pre-season medical tests start on July 4, meaning there’s only around three weeks for the Bianconeri to provide Allegri with a few more reinforcements in time for next season’s preparations.

Things also get a little more complicated should a top offer arrive for Matthijs de Ligt, with a number of top European clubs keen on a summer move.

Allegri has asked the club’s management to speed up and he’s hoping for a mixed group of players, some experienced winners and some young talents, to arrive and strengthen his squad. He knows that next year is fundamental for both him and the club, so the next few weeks will be decisive.

  1. It’s symptomatic to the current state of Italian football – who wants to join Juve and who wants to play in Italy?? Or is that who can Juve afford and all Serie A clubs afford?? This is even more reason to invest in Italian youth .

  2. CALMAAA, TRANQUILLO!!!!

4th spot tripleta will arrive. Don Beppe showing how wheeling and dealing is done. Even a 34 years young winger does not want to serve 2 years in back, back, down, down solitary confinement. Even the single year is proving too much. Not many freebies around over 35. Asensio and Isco are too young. Hazard can arrive when he is 38. Scudetto heading back to the blue half of Milano. For the next few years, it is between the red and the blue. Good times ahead for Cowboy Max and the 7/9 CL and European Cup losers.

  3. Juventus needs someone like Moggi or Marotta, two team architects and sport directors who knew what they want and knew how to get it.

But with the staff that Juve has at this time, no one wants to join the squad simply because they are not persuasive at all.

And yes, the bad moment of football that Italy has been through in some decades, makes Seriea A even less attractive to foreign players.

Juventus also has been making a lot of mistakes in the transfer campaigns like lossing its mentallity to build the team with Italian players, scouting abroad or getting player for free.

  4. Easy on.. I think the biggest and proudest club in Italy know what they are doing.

    It takes time to rebuild.

Ask Milan and Inter how long it took them to come back to winning.. Was it 9 and 10 years? Juve spent 2 years not winning now..

  5. Surprise! The lord of the busparking business has problems attracting skilled players willing to warm his bench! But don´t worry! The best paid coach in the league has brilliant plans to copy paste his ancient tactics from last season. Really there is nothing new here, somebody please tell the empty suits in the board it´s the year 2022.

  6. He will just use this as his excuse for his impending doom. No sane player wants to play under his expired tactic. Of course he just want to use 35+ yo players anyway LOL

  7. It’s not Allegri but Italian media (most notably Footballitalia ) who are concerned as they don’t have any material for news. Juventus news are the major source of their income. Now they are forced to rely on same old Skriniar news.

  8. I’m sure the pull of iconic club like Juve would be far greater for top players without Allegri as coach.

  9. Why would any top young player join team managed by Allegri? So they could permanently sit on the bench, hoping to come on for the last 2/3 minutes here and there, constantly being told they are “not ready”?

  10. The last year was tough, no doubt. However, i cannot forget that Allegri took us to 2 champions league finals. If I look at the team now in comparison to what he had at his disposal then I start to begin to understand the logic in his style of play. He is trying to minimize risk. It is not pretty, but we are still in champions league.

The only problem i see with Allegri’s approach is his insistence on wingers in a 4~3~3. I would prefer attacking midfielders who are more versatile who can adapt to formation changes as needed.
