Al-Ahli have reportedly sent Napoli an offer for midfielder Piotr Zielinski, who has entered the last year of his contract.

The 29-year-old Polish midfielder has been in talks with the Partenopei regarding a new deal for a number of weeks now and in the closing stages of last month he allegedly agreed to the terms of a contract, seemingly willing to lower his salary in order to push through an agreement.

Despite the report of an agreement between Napoli and Zielinski on July 25, no updates have emerged and no deal has been announced, suggesting that things are not so simple.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Al-Ahli have now made an official offer to Napoli for Zielinski and talks between the two clubs are ongoing.

The club are one of the four backed by Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF. They’re hoping to agree a deal for the Pole soon, otherwise they’ll switch focus to other targets like Atletico Madrid’s Marcos Llorente.
