Andrea Agnelli has highlighted that 11 clubs are ‘still bound’ to the Super League project because they ‘signed a 120-page contract’ after insisting that the proposal ‘did not fail’.

The European Super League project was launched in April of last year but it quickly collapsed due to the terrible reception by fans and pundits alike. Agnelli was one of the main people spearheading the project, alongside Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez. No new details about the Super League project were announced at today’s summit.

Speaking at the Business of Football Summit event in London, the Juventus president first suggested that the Super League project has not failed when asked what went wrong.

“The Super League hasn’t failed. In my opinion, European football is in desperate need of reform. I will not accept questions about Tebas, his statements speak for themselves.”

The Italian businessman revealed that UEFA knew he was creating a project before the announcement came.

“UEFA knew that I as Juventus president was working on something different. The Super League is a collective work of 12 teams, not one person. 12 clubs signed a 120-page contract and it is still binding for 11 of those clubs.”

Agnelli continued his appeal for the need of a new competition.

“Compromise is no longer a choice, we need deeper reforms. Is a monopoly operator suited to lead a business like football? I think not.”

The Juventus president suggested that bigger changes than just a new competition were required.

“I think I haven’t heard the word Super League as much as I have today. What we think is that the structure of government is not fit for purpose. I wouldn’t think about alternative products, but how the industry is run.”

He was cryptic when discussing if Juventus would still be playing in the Champions League within the next five years.

“I see Juventus playing in the main European competition.”

Finally, Agnelli touched on if UEFA should be dissolved.

“I’ll sit at the table, I’ll support a transparent organisation and I’ll wait for the European Council of Justice to tell us if the current body is fit for purpose.”

  1. “The Super League is a collective work of 12 teams, not one person.” Thank you, my lord. This makes me feel so much better. I could not have slept if the Super League was not a project to benefit 12 clubs instead of one person. Having this many clubs involved certainly makes it into a fair and beneficial competition for all.

  2. When you time travel to the medieval age and tell them that you could fly from Glasgow to London, you’ll be stoned for blasphemy! This current UEFA has stone age mentality like their godfather F**A.

  3. screw UEFA, their inefficient business model is obsolete, why do they get a pie while they provide nothing to the competition. The money should be 100% come to the clubs coffers

  4. boh! Klovn er du, som har ikke den minste forståelse av sakens essens på global skala, men bare kaster ord i din snever forstand.
