Juventus President Andrea Agnelli allegedly asked veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to remain at the Allianz Stadium: “We want you to still be one of ours.”

The 42-year-old returned to Turin after spending last season at Paris Saint-Germain and has set his sights on breaking another record by extending his current deal worth €1.5m a year.

Next season Buffon will play his 26th season as a professional footballer and will set another record when he detaches himself from the long-serving legends Francesco Totti and Paolo Maldini.
