Kouame ruptured his ACL during Ivory Coast’s U23 match against South Africa in November but signed for the Viola despite being injured.

His ambitions at the Artemio Franchi are grand and the 22-year-old has revealed he can’t wait to play his first game for his new side.

“I want to return to the pitch as soon as possible and I dream of one day playing in the Champions League with Fiorentina,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “It would be nice to win some trophies and maybe play a World Cup with Ivory Coast.

“My first goal will be a great moment. I will dedicate it to my family and everyone who is fighting against the virus. I hope to score in my debut under the Fiesole, although I don’t know if there will be any fans there.”

Kouame has a good impression of President Rocco Commisso, who signed a loan deal with Genoa with an obligation to buy the Ivorian in January.

“He is strongly attached to Fiorentina and the players; he treats us like his children. When I arrived, he called me and said he liked my goal against the Viola. I was also surprised by his warmth.”

This term, the centre-forward scored five goals and made three assists in the 11 Serie A games with Genoa prior to the injury.
