The Italian international seems set to leave San Siro following the €30m capture of Alessio Romagnoli from Roma, and his agent gave BergamoNews an update on the situation.

“Gabriel has never rejected Atalanta, and he never would,” Martin Guastadisegno explained.

“He has great respect for what he considers one of the top clubs in Italy. We’ve received several offers in recent weeks, even from teams playing in European competition, and no decision has been made yet.

“At the moment, my client is still a Milan player. He’s training with professionalism and commitment and isn’t thinking about anything else.

“One thing’s for sure, we’re not going to rush.

“Of course, we’ve met with Atalanta sporting director Giovanni Sartori four times, and he’s a wonderful person who left us feeling great.

“Even the Coach [Edy] Reja has called Gabriel. This kind of esteem makes us happy, it means so much to us.

“Therefore, I’ll repeat that Atalanta would be a very welcome option.”
