One of Olivier Giroud’s representatives sent an uncertain message after meeting with Milan to discuss a new contract.

The 36-year-old French striker’s current contract expires with the Rossoneri at the end of this season and the club are keen to tie him down to a new deal.

Giroud has proven himself to be a reliable and useful part of Stefano Pioli’s squad in the Lombardy capital, scoring 24 goals in 65 appearances for the club since his arrival in July 2021.

Giroud’s representatives met with Milan at their headquarters today to try and agree the terms of his new contract. Things were expected to be positive, but one of his agents made a cryptic comment to Calciomercato.com when leaving Casa Milan.

“We’ll see. We’re near and far at the same time. To score a goal sometimes you only need five centimetres, you’re in or out. You never know… I don’t know, they decide.”

The 2018 World Cup winner currently earns €3.5m net per season with Milan and has reportedly asked for a raise to €4m per season.

The injury crisis suffered by the Rossoneri this season has made Giroud even more important to Pioli and he’s scored 10 goals in 27 games across all competitions.
