The Rosanero were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Lega Pro side Alessandria yesterday, with President Maurizio Zamparini claiming some players “played against their own Coach”, Davide Ballardini.

Three players have now been excluded by the club, namely Enzo Maresca, Luca Rigoni and Fabio Daprelà.

Daprelà made only his third start for the club yesterday, but Maresca publicly backed former Coach Beppe Iachini after he was sacked.

“We need respect for human beings,” Candido Fortunato told SportItalia.

“They talk about behaviour, that’s everyone’s responsibility. Enzo is a serious professional, and very attached to Palermo, as shown by the fact he went to Serie B for the first time in his career.

“This decision will lead to an acceleration in the January transfer window.”
