The midfielder was linked with both clubs, but the Nerazzurri wouldn’t sell to their direct rivals and a move to England never materialised.

“The interest from Juventus was real but Inter stopped it,” Miroslav Bicanic told Calciomercato.

“That also shows that Brozovic is on the right track to becoming a top player. Many clubs were interested in him, but that’s in the past now and he’s only focused on Inter.

“Chelsea? He’d have had a much higher contract, but money isn’t everything for Marcelo.

“Yes, he’ll have a new contract. He’s happy to stay, he knows the city and he loves playing for Inter. The new contract will give him even more peace of mind, he can concentrate on the pitch.”

Frank de Boer dramatically replaced Roberto Mancini on the Nerazzurri bench this summer, how is Brozovic handling the change?

“Marcelo respects the new Coach, he’ll do his best to conform to his ideas. They haven’t had much time to get to know each other but I’m sure the new Coach use him well and get the best out of him.”
