Marcelo Brozovic’s agent admits “Premier League clubs know him well” but “if Inter think he deserves a new contract…”

The 23-year-old has two goals in 14 Serie A appearances this season, since arriving from Dinamo Zagreb last January.

“He was looking for a bigger club than Dinamo Zagreb to prove his potential, and Inter wanted substance and freshness in midfield,” Miroslav Bicanic explained to Calciomercato.

“After a year, we can say it was the right decision for both parties. Now he’s a top player. He’s improved to a European level, and has confidence in his ability to further improve.

“Other clubs will see that too, Spanish and English. Premier League clubs know him very well, they believe he can improve a lot in the next few years.

“They also know he’s not cheap though. Marcelo is happy at Inter, he’s playing well, the fans love him and everyone at the club believes in him. Milan is fantastic.

“So we’ll only think of a transfer if Inter give the green light. Until then, he’s focused on Inter matches, and how to get the best possible results this season.

“Roberto Mancini said he deserves a new contract? It’s nice when a Coach says something like that about one of his players.

“It shows great respect, and means everyone can pull in that direction. The Coach sees him every day, he definitely recognises his potential and realises what he’s about.

“I agree with Mancini’s prediction, Brozovic is on his way to becoming one of the best in the world.

“If the club hierarchy think he deserves a new contract, that would give him new strength and energy to work hard, do better and only think of Inter.

“I said last year that Inter would be glad to have paid €8m, it wasn’t much for him, and that they’d be able to sell him for much more.

“So I think he’ll grow a lot, he just has to work hard and play.

“There’s another thing to consider: Croatia. Hopefully Marcelo can have a good European Championships in France.

“It would be very important for his future, to confirm his potential at the highest level.”
