The Italian international was linked with a move to the Spanish champions, to general disbelief, but the player’s representative insists there was some intertest.

“They watched him at different times, but there was nothing concrete,” Andrea D’Amico explained to Calciomercato.

Giovinco moved to MLS last January, after struggling to hold down a place in the Juventus first team.
