Roma are said to be unhappy with the 29-year-old Brazilian's performance and conduct since his arrival on a free transfer last summer.

Gian Paolo Montali, the club's general manager, demanded that Adriano return from a break in Rio de Janeiro last month where he was recovering from an arm and shoulder injury.

Adriano had shown little concern for Roma following Claudio Ranieri's resignation. He was pictured drinking beer and having his photograph taken with girls.

The former Inter striker returned to the capital last week, but missed a medical to check on the progress of his recovery.

Montali subsequently demanded a meeting with Adriano and his Italian representative Roberto Calenda to discuss his future.

That meeting was due to be held this week, but it's thought that both parties have requested more time to think things over.

Flamengo and Corinthians are reportedly interested in taking Adriano back to Brazil.

He is tied to Roma by a three-year contract worth €5m a season before tax.
