Napoli lawyer Mattia Grassani warns it is not just Francesco Acerbi who risks punishment for an alleged racist remark towards Juan Jesus, but his Inter teammates too.

The FIGC prosecutor has ordered extra investigation into the situation before coming to a conclusion about a fine or ban, so there will be interviews with the players and officials.

“There is a player who tells the referee that he was the victim of racist discrimination, but obviously the officials did not see or hear it themselves, otherwise the player would’ve been sent off directly,” sports lawyer Grassani told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“The FIGC, on advice from the CONI, stated that the fight against any form of discrimination on the pitch is absolute. So if a racist term were to emerge, Acerbi would risk at least a 10-match ban and a ban between €10,000 and €20,000.

“Other sanctions could also arrive for his teammates, if they saw and did not denounce what happened.”

The incident occurred during the 1-1 Serie A draw at San Siro on Sunday evening.

While there was a discussion with the referee and the two players, with Juan Jesus caught on camera telling the official that a racist term had been used, Acerbi denied saying “anything racist.”

The Napoli defender took to Instagram to reiterate what had happened, including the apology he received on the day from Acerbi.

Meanwhile, Italy coach Luciano Spalletti sent Acerbi home from international duty over the situation.

“The procedure of the FIGC is correct and conforms to what the Federation is promoting, as it has finally understood the need to fight against anyone who discriminates against another individual over race,” added the lawyer.
