Tammy Abraham has pulled out of the England squad due to lower back pain, meaning that he’ll stay in Rome this international break.

The 24-year-old Englishman was the hero in Roma’s Derby della Capitale win over Lazio yesterday, scoring a brace in the first half as Jose Mourinho’s side stormed to a 3-0 victory. The former Chelsea man is having a strong debut season in the Italian capital, netting 23 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions.

As announced by England, Abraham was one of four players to not report to the squad following Gareth Southgate’s call due to some lower back pain. In agreement with Roma’s doctors, the 24-year-old will stay in Rome in order to resolve his problems.

The Roma striker will therefore not be taking part in England’s upcoming friendly matches against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast. The Three Lions have already booked their place in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
