Milan’s Christian Abbiati looks ahead to the visit of Napoli, warning that Rafa Benitez’s men ‘won’t come to defend’.

The Rossoneri welcome the Partenopei on Sunday night with the opportunity to go level on points with their southern rivals with a win.

“The next two games [against Napoli and Roma] will not be easy,” Abbiati cautioned in an interview with Milan Channel.

“We’ll approach them in the best way, and we’ll have to give our all. We’re giving our best in training, so the results will come eventually.

“The Coach [Filippo Inzaghi] is good at preparing us for matches, along with his staff. Sunday will be an open game, because Napoli will not come to San Siro to defend.

“We have to have the right competitive spirit and will to win, if we give everything for the shirt then the results will come.

“I think we’ve played well in our last few games. Unfortunately we lost at Genoa when I don’t think we deserved to. We were missing something, but we shouldn’t get too distressed.

“We know it was a great opportunity to go third, but we have an important game on Sunday.”

The goalkeeper also praised Riccardo Montolivo, who is making his return to the Milan midfield following a broken leg.

“He’s a champion, he’s our captain and his return is important.

“He’s still not back to top form, but his recovery is crucial for us.”
