Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester City have all been linked with Donnarumma, but his teammate is confident he’ll remain.

“Honestly, I’m calm,” Abate told Premium Sport.

“The lad has always been a Milan fan, as he said, and he’s already at a top club. This club will come back to the top of world football sooner or later, and he’ll definitely stay and be a star in these colours.”

Abate was also asked about the Diavolo’s position in the League, as well as Sunday’s derby against Inter.

“Let’s say that everything is going for the best. We’ve made a good start to the season, and everyone can see that, but we need to keep our feet on the ground.

“We’ll see where we stand in the table at the half-way mark. We’re a young team, we have to go forward calmly and there will be some big steps to take, but the club has laid the foundations for a great future.

“Inter with Stefano Pioli? Usually when there’s a change of Coach everyone gets a bounce, the club and the players.

“Even those who have been cast aside will get there chance, they’ll want to impress the new Coach and that will make it an even more difficult joke.”
