Today’s 0-0 draws for Juventus and Bologna open up the race for Champions League qualification, as Roma, Atalanta, Lazio and Napoli are all given fresh hope.

Italy are on the verge of securing a fifth place in the new and expanded Champions League for 2024-25, sitting comfortably on top of the UEFA rankings.

The battle is therefore not just for a top four finish, but fifth can also mean access to the biggest tournament in European football.

Juventus and Bologna were both held to 0-0 draws today, by Torino and Monza respectively, which allows the chasing pack to close up the gap.

By the end of the Week 32 fixtures, Roma could be within one point of Bologna, while Atalanta can close to within six points with a game in hand.

Napoli can also get back into the running, as a victory would see them leapfrog Lazio and position themselves eight points off Bologna.

Looking at the run-in, Thiago Motta’s side have a very tough set of fixtures to play, including head-to-head battles with Roma, Napoli and Juventus.
