FIGC President Gabriele Gravina is currently under investigation by authorities in Rome, Juventus’ January signing Carlos Alcaraz has picked up an injury in training, and Roma, Milan and Fiorentina all find themselves in European action on Thursday evening across the Europa League and Conference League.

Gravina, president of the Italian football federation since 2018, is under investigation by prosecutors in Rome for alleged embezzlement and self-laundering.

The case is linked to another investigation headed by the prosecutors in Perugia, where 16 others were accused of having gained private information about various high-profile individuals in Italy through improper means.

Gravina revealed that he, himself, had asked to be put under investigation in order to defend himself.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis announced during a radio interview with TGR Campania that he intends on building a new stadium for the Partenopei, rather than refurbishing the team’s current home, the Stadio Maradona.

In terms of news on the pitch, Juventus and coach Massimiliano Allegri have suffered a slight set-back in their plans, as January recruit Carlos Alcaraz has picked up an injury in training. He is expected to be sidelined for around two weeks, but more positively for the Old Lady, Weston McKennie is back, partially training with the group.

Italy international Domenico Berardi is expected to return to action somewhere between September and October after injuring his achilles during Sassuolo’s 1-0 loss to Hellas Verona over the weekend. He has since had a successful operation in Bologna.

Meanwhile, three Serie A sides are in Europa League and Conference League action on Thursday evening.

Roma host Brighton in one of the early Europa League kick-offs. The Giallorissi were given a 1-0 advantage after 13 minutes courtesy of Paulo Dybala.

Then, at 20.00 GMT, Milan will host Slavia Praha in San Siro in the Europa League, and Fiorentina will kick-off away against Maccabi Haifa in the Conference League.
