Sandro Tonali Ruben Loftus Cheek Milan Newcastle

Sky Sports UK claims Newcastle are ‘shocked and surprised’ at revelations that Sandro Tonali gambled on Milan games while under contract with the Rossoneri, but the Premier League side will make no official comments for now.

Multiple sources claim Tonali has admitted gambling on Milan games while under contract with the Rossoneri.

However, the ex-Milan midfielder told the FIGC Prosecutor that he only placed bets on Milan winning or when he was not eligible to play.

Newcastle haven’t yet released an official statement, but according to Sky Sports UK, the Magpies are ‘shocked and surprised’ by recent revelations.

Tonali’s agent Beppe Riso said on Tuesday that his client is ‘fighting a disease’, confirming that the 23-year-old is addicted to gambling.

He added that Newcastle have backed the 23-year-old, who could even feature in Saturday’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace.

Tonali spent three years at Milan, scoring seven goals in 130 appearances and winning the Serie A title in 2021-22. He left Milan for Newcastle last summer in a deal believed to be worth €80m.
