The race for the Serie A top four continues on Sunday, with these Roma vs. Sassuolo predictions. The Neroverdi are on their best run all season, with just one defeat in six, and could be a tough challenge for the Giallorossi.

Roma vs. Sassuolo odds

1 – Roma to win – 7/10

2 – Roma to keep a clean sheet – 23/20

3 – Roma to win by a one-goal margin – 13/5

4 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 22/25

5 – A draw at full-time –3/1

Roma take on Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon looking to protect their remarkable recent run at the Stadio Olimpico. Jose Mourinho’s side have now gone five Serie A matches without conceding at home.

This does not bode well for Sassuolo, who have found goals hard to come by this season, averaging just over one goal per game. As a result, we would back yet another home victory for the Giallorossi this season, keeping Roma very much in the hunt for a Champions League place.

That having been said, Roma have struggled on the goals front themselves this season, only just outscoring their Sunday opponents with 25 games played. Unsurprisingly for a Mourinho side, Roma have relied on their defence meaning a clean sheet and a victory by one goal may be a solid bet for a stat-conscious better.

Despite their dominance on paper, the hosts are unlikely to have an easy game of it on Sunday, as Sassuolo visit the capital in solid form. Alessio Dionisi’s side have beaten the likes of Milan and Atalanta in recent weeks and will arrive at the Stadio Olimpico full of confidence.

Having missed out on the match against Cremonese, Sassuolo captain and chief goal threat Domenico Berardi will be rested and motivated on Sunday. With the Neroverdi’s front three coming up against Roma’s back three, there could be space for Berardi to add to his disappointing tally of four goals this season.

Given the visitors’ strong form, they should not be written off ahead of this weekend’s clash. Looking back at recent encounters between the two sides, the honours are shared evenly with each team winning one and drawing three over the last five meetings.

With Roma playing mid-week in the Europa League and without the ever-present Bryan Cristante, perhaps Sassuolo could come away from the Stadio Olimpico with a point after all.

Roma team news

With Bryan Cristante set to miss his first game of the season through suspension, Mourinho could opt to play Giorginio Wijnaldum in a more withdrawn position or bring in the likes of Mady Camara or Eduardo Bove. Tammy Abraham is expected to start having been sacrificed for an extra body in midfield against Juventus.

Sassuolo team news

Domenico Berardi will slot straight back into the team having served out a one-match suspension against Cremonese. Gregoire Defrel has thrived in the absence of Andrea Pinamonti and may retain his position up front against Roma.
