Federico Chiesa did not take part in Juventus’ friendly with Standard Liege as the club are taking no risks ahead of the second half of the season.
The 25-year-old Italian forward returned to squad training in Continassa earlier this month, finally working with his teammates again after over 10 months out on the sidelines. Chiesa suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in a clash with Roma back in January and has been forced out of action ever since, slowly working on his recovery.
As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the return of Chiesa gives Massimiliano Allegri and Juventus a key attacking boost, which is why he was not risked during this mid-season break.
The former Fiorentina man did not feature in the friendlies with Arsenal or HNK Rijeka, and he was also left out of yesterday’s match against Standard Liege.
Allegri does not want to exacerbate the 25-year-old’s condition in the final stages of his recovery, so he’ll likely be left on the bench for the 2023 opener against Cremonese on January 4 but could come on in the second half.
And what a player he is. Big game player, scores in big moments for club and country.
Lets see him stay fit because when he is, he’s top five in the world along with Mbappe and Haaland.
In the Euro final at Wembley, he terrorised England more than Mbappe did in Qatar.
We need him fit for the national team in March.
Awesome player! Direct, decisive, speedy, skillful, and like M said, a big game player. How we’ve missed him.
I hope he makes up for lost time and returns to himself for the team, club and country?
