Milan’s 3-0 loss to PSV in their final friendly of the mid-season break has generated some anxiety ahead of the second half of the campaign.

The Rossoneri currently sit eight points behind league leaders Napoli in the table, putting the pressure on in the early stages of the new year. Stefano Pioli and his squad are desperate to make up for lost ground and cannot afford any missteps as they look to close the gap to Luciano Spalletti’s side.

Milan suffered a disappointing loss away to PSV in their friendly yesterday, falling 3-0 after a lacklustre performance in Eindhoven. Whilst the starting line-up wasn’t the strongest one available to Pioli, the lack of creativity and solutions on display certainly proved concerning.

Goalkeeper Antonio Mirante did not impress whilst filling in for Ciprian Tatarusanu and the injured Mike Maignan, forcing the Rossoneri coach to make a decision ahead of the Salernitana clash.

The club’s attack also looks to be in a difficult position, with Divock Origi still out injured and Olivier Giroud only returning to Milanello yesterday. Ante Rebic hardly made an impact in the friendly against PSV, giving Pioli another source of anxiety. The defence looked no better and the absence of Theo Hernandez was clearly felt.

  1. All true, but the worst part was that De Ketelaere is still playing terrible football, so if anyone was hoping for him to flip a switch over the break, that didn’t happen. Adli will not help Milan this season, either.

Other than Kalulu and Tomori’s form which is a serious problem, the real problem is with the three players behind the striker, where our best lineup is still Leao-Diaz-Saelemaekers(Messias?) and we have to pray every time for Diaz and the right winger to perform. They usually don’t.

  2. Milan purchase is terrible,it didn’t upgrade the team rather weaken it more,we only have 8 reliable starters (Mike,Theo, tomori, kalulu, bennercer, tonali, leao, giroud)
And the management should be realistic contract extension of Theo, bennercer, leao, giroud would not be enough without quality addition to the team.

  3. I think whatever magic this roster had that helped win the Scudetto last season has now clearly run out. Hernandez and Leao won’t be enough to carry us the rest of the way. The club needs upgrades in Defense, Attack and Rt flank, which won’t arrive this winter. So the real question is, can we hold on to the Top4?
