Rafael Toloi pulled out in the warm-up of Atalanta’s game with Inter and is at risk for Italy too, so Jose Luis Palomino makes his return after a doping ban was axed.
It kicks off at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo at 11.30 GMT.
Toloi was originally named in the starting XI by coach Gian Piero Gasperini, but sustained a problem during the warm-up and is not even on the bench.
This suggests it is a muscular issue and his presence playing for Italy in the upcoming friendlies against Albania and Austria also has to be a major doubt.
Atalanta have instead promoted Palomino to the starting XI, which is his first appearance since the doping ban was overturned.
Palomino failed a random doping test during pre-season training in July and always protested his innocence, but has been provisionally suspended ever since.
Last week, he won his appeal against a ban, confirming he had ingested the banned substance by mistake and it was an error in good faith.
