Milan will meet with Lille in the next few days to discuss a deal for centre back Sven Botman.

The Rossoneri are looking to find a replacement for the injured Simon Kjaer in this month’s transfer window and the 21-year-old Dutch defender is quickly becoming the favourite in the Lombardy capital, with the player convincing the club’s management in all aspects, between his age, performances and potential.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Lille need to generate funds this month despite the sale of Jonathan Ikoné to Fiorentina, and so will meet with Milan in the coming days to discuss a possible deal. The Rossoneri will use the meeting to understand if it’s possible for them to sign the Dutchman on a loan deal with a buy option attached, which could become an obligation to buy should certain conditions be met.

The Ligue 1 side are open to this idea and if they are prepared to lower their initial price tag of €30m then a deal could quickly come off, with Milan fully keen to Botman. The 21-year-old centre back is not convinced by the idea of joining current frontrunners Newcastle and so the Rossoneri have a serious chance of securing their man this month.

  1. Lille won’t move from the €30 million price tag, definitely not as Newcastle have already agreed to pay that fee, but we’re told earlier today that he’s not for sale only around 2-3 hours ago, however Newcastle are expected to come in with a higher bid of €40 million euros to test Lille’s resolve, which in my opinion Lille will except.
