Coach Stefano Pioli says Lazio's “aim is to win” when leaders Napoli come calling tomorrow.

The Biancocelesti were thrashed 5-0 in the game at San Paolo, but they won’t be looking to park the bus for the return leg.

Coach Stefano Pioli says Lazio's “aim is to win” when leaders Napoli come calling tomorrow.

The Biancocelesti were thrashed 5-0 in the game at San Paolo, but they won’t be looking to park the bus for the return leg.

“Our aim is to win,” Pioli told reporters in his pre-match Press conference.

“We’ll play to score, and not to avoid conceding. We have to try to cause problems for the oppnent, like we did against Inter and Fiorentina and for an hour against Juventus.

“It’s important, but not decisive. We know that our approach is important, playing above or below our level will bring advantages or disadvantages.

“What matters is to play as a team for 95 minutes, making our choices with clarity, because tomorrow we’re facing a team who are technically adept.

“They deserve to be top, they have the consistency that Juventus didn’t have at the beginning. But the Scudetto will be a fight to the end.

“How will we stop Gonzalo Higuain? The problem isn’t just Higuain, they have a lot of players like [Lorenzo] Insigne, [Jose] Callejon, [Marek] Hamsik and many others.

“But we have to think about attacking, scoring and winning, not just defending.

“We have the quality to cause problems for our opponents.”

Pioli was also asked about the transfer window, after the Aquile didn’t even send a representative to Milan for deadline day negotiations.

“We had objectives, some we managed and some we didn’t. We needed a centre-back, and [Milan] Bisevac arrived. He’ll bring added value.

“He offers personality in the absence of [Stefan] De Vrij, and he’ll help us until the end of the season. After that we had to cut the squad, and we only partially succeeded.

“I knew that if no-one left there would be no funds available. I’m happy with the team I have available though, and I still think the squad has the qualities to do well.”
