Reports today have suggested that the Giallorossi will line up in a 4-4-2 formation at Khimki Arena, with Alessandro Florenzi playing at right-back.
Roma Coach Garcia did not deny the rumours in his pre-match Press conference, but stressed that the formation is not the most important factor for his side.
“Tomorrow we will have a right-back,” Garcia teased.
“[Michele] Somma, Florenzi or another, which I’m keeping to myself.
“[Usual right-back Maicon] is not ready to play, it’s as simple as that. Not least because he hasn’t had any time to work with the team.
“I had planned to bring all those who had at least a chance of playing, [Vasilis] Torosidis was on the plane too.
“As is normal, when we trained yesterday we evaluated both of them, and neither was ready to play.
“The important thing is not just that the team is able to start with a different formation, but also a change in how we approach the match mentally, with the aim of making life difficult for our opponents.”
The Lupi thrashed CSKA Moscow 5-1 on the opening night of Champions League fixtures, but the Russian champions have since gone on to defeat Manchester City away from home, and Garcia says he has always viewed the Krasno-sinie as a threat.
“If you look at my statements after the first group game, I immediately said that this is a good [CSKA] Moscow side.
“I told everyone that they’d get results. I wasn’t wrong.”
