Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis says he’s fighting fit ahead of a crucial Champions League tie with CSKA Moscow.

The former Napoli man had been sidelined by a recurring thigh injury earlier in the season, with Lukasz Skorupski deputising during the Giallorossi’s previous two previous European away games.

De Sanctis played 90 minutes during his side’s 2-1 win at Atalanta” data-scaytid=”11″>Atalanta on Saturday, and the 37-year-old says he has finally shaken off the niggling injury.

“After the injury it took a bit of time to get back to full fitness,” De Sanctis revealed in a Press conference ahead of the game.

“I spoke to the Coach [Rudi Garcia] after I was first left out of the team and together we clarified the situation.

“To play every three days you have to be at 200 per cent, and in the last cycle of games I was only at 100 per cent and the Coach had to choose the right games to leave me out.

“Now it’s been almost two months since the injury and I’m fully recovered.”

De Sanctis is not the only Roma player to have been struggling with injury, with the Giallorossi suffering a number of absences so far this term, but the goalkeeper says Roma have done well despite this.

“Considering what has happened in the last two and a half months it’s clear that we’ve been unlucky.

“We didn’t have the whole team available to manage games and conserve our energies.

“Considering this difficulty, I think the Coach is right in what he said [that Roma have done well so far].

“I feel that this first part of the season has been very good.”
