Neto [Fiorentina]

Deserved to win the game with a dynamically divine double save from Mattia Cassani and Amauri, which kept his side afloat. Always ready to do his bit but could do nothing about either goal. Spiderman.

Adil Rami [Milan]

In only his fifth full game the French-Moroccan defender scored his second goal of the season and has slipped effortlessly into central defence. Made several solid clearances and hardly anything or anyone escaped his attention. The Hulk.

Davide Astori [Cagliari]

Never put a foot wrong and kept the Inter forwards quiet throughout. Led the back line perfectly and was the rock that his side was built on, putting his head and body on the line whenever needed. Iron Man.

Stefan Radu [Lazio]

Aggressive in defence and attack, Radu kept Sassuolo’s right-wing quiet at the same time as causing them problems at the other end. Marked his performance with a wonder-strike from distance.  Wolverine.

Adel Taarabt [Milan]

Decisive and illuminating and always looking to take on and beat his opponent. He never stopped searching for the ball and it was his alertness from his own rebound that saw him score his second goal in three games. Flash.

Perparim Hetemaj [Chievo]

The Flying Donkey stampeded the Elefanti, sowing alarm every time he got the ball. At the heart of all Chievo’s best moves he was an absolute hammer in defence and attack inspiring his herd with his all-out efforts. Thor.

Dries Mertens [Napoli]

Always looking to get on the end of the ball he caused several problems especially in the first half coming in from the left. Also worried Mattia Perin on at least three occasions with ferocious shots on goal. The Atom.

Juan Cuadrado [Fiorentina]

Forever probing down the left flank sending in shots and crosses and generally being a problem. Scored the equaliser after starting the move off and getting on the end of it with a hard running sliding finish. Silver Surfer.

Gonzalo Higuain [Napoli]

Absolutely ruthless in front of goal and showed with the opener that his touch is magic. Worked well with Mertens and menaced every time he got into the area and increasingly fundamental to the Partenopei’s season. El Pipita.

Carlos Tevez [Juventus]

Another sparking performance by Serie A’s new Capocannoniere. Always willing to put in the yards for the good of the team, whether in defence or attack and scored the all-important decisive goal with a fabulous shot on the turn. Apache.

Luca Toni [Verona]

The 36-year-old played like a teenager and had one goal disallowed while going close three times. Had a hand in the first two goals before being in exactly the right place at the right time to score the third. Superman.

Special mentions: Cristian Zaccardo [Milan] Ricardo Montolivo [Milan] Leandro Castan [Roma] Daniele De Rossi [Roma] Mati Fernandez [Fiorentina], Stefan Radu [Lazio], Kwadwo Asamoah [Juventus].
