Gianfranco Zola predicts Napoli could upset Liverpool in the Champions League and see this trip as “an opportunity” to turn things around.

It kicks off at Anfield on Wednesday at 20.00 GMT.

“It’s not a good moment for Napoli right now, but nights like this can spark a rebirth,” Zola told Il Mattino newspaper.

“Losing Lorenzo Insigne is a real blow, but the Azzurri already proved they know how to beat Liverpool. It’s true that the Reds have a very strong attack, but their defence is hardly a blockade.

“With the creativity of their players, Napoli can cause real problems. Anfield is a unique stadium in the world, one that gives its team an extra boost. It’s difficult to explain the atmosphere, both inside and outside the arena. It’ll be important to face them with a calm mentality.”

Calm is not something Napoli have in abundance right now, as the club just imposed fines on the players for their ‘mutiny’ against a training retreat, while there are rumours Ancelotti could either be sacked or resign.

“That’s the nature of football right now, which is often experienced on social media or analysed only on one game. Difficult moments are part of the life of every club, but the important thing is to emerge out of it.

“Tomorrow’s game can be seen as an opportunity for Napoli. My heart says they’ll win 2-1.”
