Dino Zoff admits “quitting is difficult” but says Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon has to decide “without this push and pull”.
The 40-year-old had planned to retire after this summer’s World Cup, but Italy didn’t qualify and it’s now thought he’s reconsidering his decision.
Zoff, another legendary Italian goalkeeper, retired at the age of 43 and says Buffon can’t be pushed into anything.
“Quitting is difficult,” Zoff admitted on Radio Anch’io Sport.

“Quitting is difficult,” Zoff admitted on Radio Anch’io Sport.
“I believe he has to make the right decisions in conjunction with his club, without continuing with this push and pull, which would be counter-productive.
“It’s very bad to know that we’ll see a World Cup without Italy, especially knowing that other less decorated teams will be participating.
“I’m confident that we’ll do well enough in the future, times have changed and Italian players need to play.
“There are a lot of foreigners in the clubs and we need to develop our own talent.”
