The former captain hit out at Milan target Ralf Rangnick for requesting ‘full managerial power’ at Milanello, meaning that both Maldini and coach Stefano Pioli face uncertain times in Via Aldo Rossi.

Tuttosport claims the former Sweden international, who returned to the club in January, will not consider extending his deal at Milan if Maldini have to follow former sporting director Zvonimir Boban out the door.

Zlatan’s contract expires in June, but the Swede has an option to remain for another season and could decide to do so despite the turbulence at Milan after the farewell of Boban earlier this campaign.

The newspaper reveals that Maldini is now the 38-year-old’s ‘reference figure’ at Milanello and if the former hero should lose his job, it could lead to Zlatan moving on.
