Milan were also interested, but confusion over their ownership has hugely limited the Rossoneri’s transfer activity and it was reported yesterday that the Partenopei had won the race.

Today Radio Crc claims an improved deal over wages is behind the breakthrough, with Zielinski’s wages to rise from €1.2m per season to €1.6m over the course of a five-year deal.

The station believes that a deal will be officially completed by Thursday, with an agreement already found with Udinese.

The transfer fee is thought to be €15m, with Duvan Zapata remaining at Stadio Friuli and Juan Zuniga moving to Watford.

The Pozzo family owns the Hornets as well as the Zebrette, so the transfer would be beneficial for both clubs.
