Reports in Russia are suggesting that Inter midfielder Thiago Motta is being targeted by Zenit.

According to the stories, Luciano Spalletti's club have made the Italian outfit a €15m offer for the former Barcelona player.

It's unclear whether Inter are willing to take the bid into consideration, while Motta's reported €3m a year wages and his desire to stay in Milan may also prove to be a stumbling block for Zenit.

"He has two years still to run on his contract and, as far as we are concerned, he is not leaving," agent Dario Canovi recently told TMW. "He wants to stay.

"Inter have yet to tell us of their intentions with regard to whether or not they want to renew his contract.

"He is happy at Inter and is ready to remain even until his present agreement runs out. The club just have to tell us what they want."

Motta joined Inter in the summer of 2009 when he and Diego Milito moved from Genoa for an undisclosed fee.

The Brazilian has since broken into the Italian international set-up and is firmly in the plans of Azzurri boss Cesare Prandelli.

The 28-year-old missed Friday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Estonia though.

The midfielder picked up a thigh problem in the Coppa Italia Final last weekend which ruled him out of contention.
