Russian giants Zenit have confirmed their capture of Genoa and Italy left-back Domenico Criscito.

In a note on their official website, Luciano Spalletti's club have netted the player on a five-year deal.

The left-back, who has also played for Juventus in the Italian top flight, will join Zenit on July 8.

It was thought that Criscito would be joining Napoli this summer after the Azzurri did a deal with the Marassi outfit.

However, agreeing personal terms with his hometown club was problematic and he's now opted for a switch to Zenit instead.

The Russians did initially fail in a January bid to sign the 2010 World Cup player.

Inter and Paris Sanit-Germain were also said to be pondering an offer for the player who will be 25 at the end of next month.
