Walter Zenga believes Crotone’s win at relegation rivals Verona will give his team a huge psychological boost.

The Pitagorici ran out convincing 3-0 winners at the Bentegodi, moving five points clear of today’s opponents and two clear of the drop zone.

“The three new players have settled immediately and the others have followed their lead,” Zenga said after Ahmad Benali, Marco Capuano and Federico Ricci all impressed.

“It’s important to work well but we can’t forget that enthusiasm and quality should never be lacking.

“This success is worth a lot mentally. We had had three successive defeats, although we played intelligently against three big teams in Italian football.”

Despite the emphatic nature of today’s win, Zenga is refusing to get carried away.

“Today bore all the fruits of those three matches, now we have to think about Cagliari.

“I will only be calm when we are guaranteed to be staying up.”
