The striker is the current Serie A Capocannoniere with 20 goals and was hoping to add to that tally today, but went off during the first half at the Stadio Olimpico.

“It is a trauma to the right quadricep and it’s not possible to give an accurate view of the situation right now,” chief medic Fabio Rodia told Lazio Style Channel.

“We’ll have a diagnosis after tests in 48 hours. We invited him to come off earlier, but the player wanted to continue and we know he has an indomitable character.

“Eventually, he felt the pain grow and realised it was best not to risk it any further.”

This is believed to be the same area of the leg that Immobile hurt while on international duty in November.
