Crotone boss Walter Zenga insists today’s opponents Atalanta are ‘no longer a provincial team.’

La Dea are currently seventh in the Serie A table, having also reached the last 32 of the Europa League and the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.

And Zenga is hugely impressed by the Bergamo side and their Coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

“Atalanta are no longer a provincial team, they are one of the big clubs,” the Pitagorici tactician told reporters.

“For two years they have played an interesting style of football and achieved great results.

“They had a great group stage in the Europa League and a unique Coach, who it is a pleasure to come up against.”

Despite his regard for Atalanta, Zenga is not phased by the prospect of his relegation strugglers hosting Gasperini’s men.

“It doesn’t scare me to play against top players, otherwise I wouldn’t have become a Coach or accepted the challenge at Crotone.

“Our team has a mentality and attitude that we shouldn’t change. I want my team to always compete against the best, that’s the only way you improve.”
