Zdenek Zeman feels Roma were “better on a defensive level than attacking” in their victory against his former club Pescara.
“Pescara never got a shot on goal and we created many chances, but altogether we did not play a great game,” said the Coach after their 1-0 win.
“We have got to eliminate those distractions so that we can grow consistently. We have to improve a great deal.”
Michael Bradley was surprisingly chosen to replace Panagiotis Tachtsidis while Daniele De Rossi is suspended.
“Bradley is a central midfielder and for 40 years I have been playing with this type of figure in front of the defence. I don’t see this as an enormous change from Tachtsidis. We also had to control Juan Fernando Quintero and we did that comfortably.
“The performance was better on a defensive level than attacking. At times Daniel Osvaldo and Mattia Destro keep the ball a bit too long, but they will improve their rapport on the field.”
Zeman was given a warm welcome at the Stadio Adriatico, having taken Pescara to promotion last season.
“I was very happy here and I’m pleased for them that we only won 1-0. Now I am at Roma and we must improve so we can cause trouble for every opponent.”
