Zdenek Zeman still isn’t content with Roma’s summer form, but forgives Panagiotis Tachtsidis for his red card. “I’d have curled up and cried.”

The Giallorossi beat Liverpool on their US tour and last night defeated the El Salvador national team 2-1 in New York.

The game was marred by a late red card that saw Tachtsidis sent off for a reaction foul when headbutted.

“The referee made a bad decision, as it can happen to react badly after being headbutted.

“If I were in his place, I’d have curled up on the floor and cried…” smiled Zeman.

Although Roma are putting together some impressive results, Zeman is still hoping for much more.

“We are not in good shape yet and are too late to the ball. At times five or six substitutions are excessive, as those who come on do not have time to make an impact and the team gets stretched out.

“I try to let everyone play, but we are still in the midst of pre-season fitness training and some hold the tempo better than others.

“My work is to ensure everyone reaches technical and physical form at the right moment.”
