Roma boss Zdenek Zeman has looked to clarify his earlier statements about Daniele De Rossi.

The midfielder’s future was again cast into doubt after the tactician seemed to question the player’s performances and worth this week.

“I've heard things on the news which I didn't like, people have misquoted me,” the former Pescara boss noted.

“What did I mean when I said Daniele hasn't yet fitted in? I meant he's used to playing a different system in midfield – I was simply talking tactics.

“Is he over-priced? I don't know what's he worth, so I can't tell you if that's the case or not.

“All I will say is that – at this moment in time – because of his age and the financial climate, you'll struggle to find 10 clubs who want to buy him.

“Nothing has gone on between us. I've neither spoken to Daniele nor the club. He's a big player for me and I hope he'll serve us well in the coming games.”

Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella joked earlier today that he would be happy to boss the Italian international in Florence.

“We shouldn't joke about things like this,” the 4-3-3 Coach continued. “I'm disappointed to hear that.”

Roma will host the Viola on Saturday at the Stadio Olimpico.

“The match against Fiorentina is a game against a side who are performing very well, just like us. They have a similar approach and have had similar results.

“The Viola play good stuff, they attack, they take the game to their opponents and are the surprise package this term just like Montella's Catania last season, who albeit played a different system.”
