Immobile has bounced back from being in limbo for both club and country after difficult spells with Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, which in turn threatened his chances of remaining an Italy regular.

“Immobile and Belotti are strikers who, from a technical standpoint, aren’t spoken about, and I like them,” Zaza, whose inclusion in the latest Azzurri squad has been criticised by some quarters, told Rai Sport.

“They are a handful and physical, plus they run left and right. I’m particularly very happy for Ciro, who went through some dark times and has redeemed himself, both in Serie A and the national team.

“He showed that things could change from one moment to another and that if a player isn’t good for a certain time, it doesn’t mean they’re no good but that it’s just a psychological thing.

“Pelle? He had a great Euros, maybe I’m biased but he’s a great guy. What he did wasn’t right, you have to give a certain image and he knows it was wrong.

“After that, it’s up to the coach to decide.”
