“The Scudetto? We’ll need a bit of luck, because Juventus and Napoli are doing great things.

“I’m happy to be back [in Italy]. This is a great team, and I want to prove what kind of player I am. I want to get involved and do well.

“The experience in Italy was beautiful, football in the Premier League is very good and I was fine there, but I wasn’t playing the role I wanted, so I decided to come back so I can play in attack.

“Fiorentina are a great team, we’re fighting for the top positions in the League and the Europa League.

“Anyone who speaks badly of me should wait and see what I do on the pitch.”

Fiorentina will be the ninth club of a nomadic career, and Zarate admits he’s made mistakes in the past.

“I made mistakes. The first was going to Qatar [with Al-Sadd] when I was 19. But then I went to England [Birmingham City] and Lazio.

“I’m fine now.”
