Chelsea full-back Davide Zappacosta felt Italy’s 1-1 draw and numerous chances against England are “not to be sniffed at.”
He was in the starting XI for the friendly at a sold out Wembley Stadium, which saw Jamie Vardy’s opener cancelled out by a Lorenzo Insigne penalty.
“It’s always an emotional occasion to play for your country, especially in a packed stadium like this,” Zappacosta told Rai Sport.

“England are a very solid side that defends well and had kept five clean sheets in a row, so breaking them down and creating so many chances here is nothing to be sniffed at.
“Even without the goal, Italy proved we are there and we could’ve opened the scoring a lot earlier if we had been more determined.
“This gives us confidence and more determination to continue this journey.”
