Daniele Rugani said Italy were “rewarded for believing” in themselves after a late equaliser to hold England 1-1 at Wembley.
Lorenzo Insigne converted a penalty to cancel out the Jamie Vardy opener, with Rugani and Marco Parolo caught napping on a quick free kick.
“It’s a very important result, because we were playing against a strong side made of good individuals, so we knew it was tough,” Rugani told Rai Sport.
