Nicolò Zaniolo believes Roma “worked well when attacking and defending, that was the secret” of their 2-1 win over Milan.

“We worked very well when attacking and defending, so that was the secret tonight. We’ve got Udinese coming up midweek and we want another three points,” Zaniolo told Sky Sport Italia.

The teenager has been criticised lately, including by Fabio Capello, but kissed the Roma jersey during his celebration.

“It was a wonderful evening for the team, I focus on training day after day, then I let my performances do the talking.”

Curiously, all nine of Zaniolo’s goals for the Giallorossi have been scored at the Stadio Olimpico.

“The crowd is fantastic, they’re always there for us and I want to thank them for the applause they give me every Sunday, even when I haven’t played that well. I will always thank them.

“We always try to win, then the result can come or not, nobody can control that, but we must know that we’ve given it our all.”
